I’ve been looking for a good, lightweight, alt-az mount for my AT60ED for under $200 without much luck. Moving up to the $200-300 range there are a few popular choices, like the Vixen mobile porta mount at $280, but these, too, have a lot of flaws, according to user reviews on Cloudy Nights and elsewhere. They all seem to suffer from excessive flex, failing parts, slipping clutches, and other problems. I was getting ready to spend $400 when I spotted this one. There aren’t many reviews out there in the US, but the few I found were very enthusiastic- and it’s well under $200. Even with DHL Express shipping (I was impatient) it was only $200. I clicked buy, and four days later it had made its way from Germany to my hous.My first impression was that this is a very well crafted mount. Parts are mostly milled from billet, and workmanship is excellent throughout. I attached my AT60ED and put it through the paces. Everything fits tightly, adjustments are easy, and movement is very smooth. It’s a lot easier to find a good tension setting on this mount than on my TeleVue TelePod, which costs over twice as much. I’m very pleased with it, and can recommend it unreservedly.Update: You can order the exact same mount direct from China for half the price.
